Policy, Advocacy & Gender Technical Advisor, Enhancing Nigerian Response (ENR) (3 positions)
ActionAid Nigeria (AAN) is one of ActionAid Country Programmes around the world. ActionAid is an International Non-Governmental organization registered in The Netherlands with headquarters in Johannesburg South Africa. ActionAid International works in about 50 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia and the Americas. 22 of these country programmes, affiliates or associates are in Africa and are led by Africans. We have been doing development work on the continent since 1972 and in Nigeria since 1999. ActionAid works with the poor and excluded in Africa, promoting values and commitment in civil society, institutions and governments with the aim of achieving structural changes in order to eradicate injustices and poverty in the world.
To effectively remain proactive and consolidate on the new country strategy, AAN is inviting applications from qualified candidates to fill the position of Policy, Advocacy & Gender Technical Advisor. (I position each for Benue, Ogun & Akwa Ibom)
Person Specifications
Education/Qualifications• Degree in Social Sciences, Arts or Humanities is essential.
• Post graduate degree in a relevant field is essential.
Experience
• A minimum of 7 years working experience preferably in the social development field is essential
• A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar position is essential
• Experience of the Nigerian policy environment as it relates with Gender & HIV/AIDS is essential
• Experience in HIV Prevention and Gender mainstreaming is desirable
Skill/Abilities
• Excellent computer application skills is essential
• Excellent oral and written communication skills is essential
• Excellent conceptual, analytical, documentation and presentation skills is essential
• Excellent Skills in policy analysis and interpretation is essential
Personal Qualities
• Creative and takes initiative.
• Able to work effectively in a diverse team environment
• Willing and able to travel
