WORK HOURS: Full-Time; 40 hours/week


SALARY: OR – Ordinary Resident – N2, 237,713.00 p.a. (Starting basic salary)
Position Grade: FSN-7
In addition to the basic salary, all allowances will be paid
in accordance with the Mission Local Compensation Plan.
* Not Ordinarily Resident: AEFM-US$37,351.00,
EFM-US$34,324.00, p.a. (Starting salary) Position Grade: FP -7.
The U.S. Embassy Abuja is seeking to employ a suitable and qualified candidate for the position of a Radio Technician in the Information Management Office.


BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The incumbent is knowledgeable with the installation, programming, bench repair and authorized modifications and other radio related equipment issues. The incumbent is familiar with commercial Motorola and Kenwood HF and UHF systems to include mobile radios, base stations, repeaters and handheld units. The incumbent will liaison with Regional Information Management Center (RIMC) Radio Technicians and managers and insure that the Information Programs Officer and Management section as well as the Regional Security Officer are apprised of ongoing activities and latest related technologies Knowledge of other wireless systems to
include Cisco Aironet Systems, Armed Forces Network (AFN) and DSTV satellite systems, etc. is preferred but not mandatory.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
NOTE: All applicants are instructed to address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each criterion.
1. Completion of Secondary School is required.
2. Minimum of three to Four years of directly related, progressive experience working in electrical and radio theory, radio and wireless equipment is required.
3. Level III English (Speaking/Reading/Writing) is required.
4. A thorough knowledge of electronic, radio theories, installation, operations, maintenance, testing, trouble-shooting, repair procedures and techniques is required.
5. Knowledge of computer, particularly with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook is required.
6. Ability to independently resolve stressful, unforeseen situations and calibrate a wide range of test equipment by using myriad of hand power tools is required.

SELECTION PROCESS
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S. Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.

1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
4. Currently employed U.S. Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
5. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
